Have we really never had a Don DeLillo film adaptation until now? Well, David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” is going to remedy that little oversight — here’s the new trailer. Looks awesome — perhaps a bit reminiscent of Richard Kelly’s “Southland Tales,” except played with a totally straight face. Also, the tagline “The first film about our new millennium” seems to prematurely brush aside entries such as 1995′s “Strange Days.”
Share Our Books is a group of children’s authors who donate large quantities of their books so that many people within a community can read and discuss some of the same titles. Donors so far include Jewell Parker Rhodes (Ninth Ward) and Sarah Pennypacker (the Clementine series). Here’s hoping this garden of titles continues to bloom!
“Hey, Everyone — Stop Taking This Picture! (No, I Mean It.)” is a lament from a writer over at TOR who’s fed up with the awkward way women are presented in movie, TV, and book promos … namely, butt-first. While she cites a couple of male examples, it’s shocking how many badass women seem to be caught off-guard in their photo shoots, as if the viewer was sneaking up behind them. In movies that aren’t marketed to men — such as “Twilight” — the characters are mercifully allowed to face forward.
Lately, Reddit’s “movies” subreddit has included a lot of really wonderful “On the Set” posts — photos that show Hollywood greats (like Marlon Brando or Harrison Ford) hanging tight during the filming of now-iconic movies. And you can find far more of these over at “BehindtheCamera” — like the time Stanley Kubrick duped Jack Nicholson into posing for a photo on the set of “The Shining.”

Once in Twilight ALWAYS in Twilight. I refuse to see anyone’s movie who has has a tween TEAM following. Please don’t mistake Team Edward with this one though: bitly.com/I4N4iX LOL! The only one I would cheer for. BOOO Rob!
I read the Tor editorial “Hey, Everyone — Stop Taking This Picture! (No, I Mean It.)” just recently, and it was quite eye- opening. I hadn’t even noticed the trend, which says something about how even women are becoming jaded to this somewhat derogatory campaigning. I don’t mind heroines being portrayed as sexy, but that pose is silly. When you’re kicking butt, it’s stupid to turn your back to the enemy.
