Could it be? Could Arnold Schwarzenegger really be planning to return to his cyborg roots for yet another "Terminator" movie? The former CA governor has apparently signed on to appear in the fifth and sixth films in the franchise, which sort of stalled in 2009 with the hard-to-love "Terminator: Salvation." I'm sure he'll be in tip-top shape by then, but being menaced by a sixty-five-year-old retiree is a whole different brand of horror.
I couldn't help scanning this list of awesome film-to-video-game adaptations for titles that were originally based on books. While there were some near-misses (a 007 that wasn't based on any Ian Fleming novels, a graphic novel), I noted at least one direct hit: a "Blade Runner" PC game ranked number one on their list!
Fun fact: The Pompeii volcanic disaster was mythologized in literature by Edward Bulwer-Lytton in the nineteenth century and has inspired many films over the last hundred years. Here's an amazing MetaFilter post that takes you from the 1913 silent film all the way to the 1984 epic mini-series. Even contemporary authors such as Robert Harris have had their turn. At this point it's not a matter of if another Pompeii film will strike -- it's a matter of when.
