It’s official: Millions of people are obsessed with the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by E. L. James, as sales of the trilogy hit the twenty-million-copy mark. It’s clear that fans of the books want as much of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele as possible. Much to the dismay of fans, the story does indeed have a finite ending – but luckily there’s still the movie adaptation working its way to development.
Tongues are starting to wag as movie folk, readers, and fans begin to toss casting rumors around. Earlier this summer, we asked you who you thought would be the perfect Christian Grey – and your passionate opinions poured in in droves. Those of you who weren’t sold on the idea of Simon Baker, Ian Somerhalder, Michael Fassbender, or Ryan Gosling didn’t hold back, suggesting other hotties like Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper… and so many others. Readers clearly had their own vision of the sexy, smoldering Christian Grey. Now, we have to ask: Who would you cast as the sexy but naive Anastasia Steele? We had a hard time narrowing down your options to just four, but we came up with Lily Collins, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Stewart, and Shailene Woodley. Of course, we also left the options open ended and invite you to weigh in with your own opinions.

I definitely see Ian Somerhalder as Christian, and if they have to chose a well known actress I say Mila Kunis for Anastasia because she is the perfect woman but if not I say go find a regular girl and make her famous.

Alexis Bledel will fit the role of Anastasia Steele down to a T. She can act, subtly innocent looking…..definitely can carry that role. Kristen Stewart, eh, she looks constipated most of the time I’ve seen her act……how about Chris Hemsworth??

I really don’t think Alexis Bledel would do justice to Anastasia. I mean, sure, she looks innocent, and she can play awkward, but SEXY in the Red Room of Pain. I don’t think so.
Now, Emma Stone I can see doing sexy, but all the candidates so far that have been named, I just don’t picture any of them being Ana. Maybe, on screen, but right now, I think it’s going to be really hard to find the perfect Ana.

I love Alexis Bledel & if it were possible to recapture her youth from her Gilmore Girls days, that would be perfect casting! However, she’s now 31 & as much as I’d LOVE to see her tackle the role, I don’t see her as a 20-21 year old? Not that 31 is over the hill!
Ian Somerhalder is the perfect actor for Christian Grey! That is most def the face I put with the character while reading. Mostly because of his Vampier Diaries work, he’s quite good.
For Kate- again, probably too old for the role but Blake Lively came to mind, maybe it was the hair? Idk… My other picks are Ashley Greene for Mia, & Josh Duhamel for Taylor?
I will say, however, that these books are too huge for any of this to matter. Even if I see Ian, Alexis, Kate, Josh, & Ashley in those roles, it doesn’t matter. I think that because this is a best seller, even if they cast someone in a role that I don’t see them playing, theres no way it’s going to be bad! There was an online petition started when Robert Pattinson was cast as Edward by those that thought he wasnt right for the role in Twilight & ultimately, he did ok. I suppose they sit through thousands of auditions & they’ll see something I don’t. I’m constantly amazed by what Hollywood puts out there & I realized that I have no ability to change or affect casting so I’m not gonna just trust them not to mess it up!
I have to agree with so many others on here! Alexis Bledel would be the perfect girl for Anastatia Steele! She is shy, awkward, beautiful….the list in endless! When I started reading this book I envisioned her instantly…..along side Ian Somerhalder ~ I mean come on, those eyes are perfect ~ need I say more? I really believe that in order for this movie to get the kind of ratings they want ~ then they will definitely have to chose their actors wisely! Emma Watson I think is a no go! As well as Matt Bomer. I cannot wait to see who they pick!!!

I began to think that too but as the story progressed I saw that she (Alexis) was way way way too innocent to be Ana. I think Ian as Christian & Brittany Snow as Ana would be great. Besides, Alexis’s crying annoys me, and well Ana is supposed to cry alot.
I don’t agree with Alexis Bledel. To me she has always been this innocent, goody two shoes. I really do love Ian Somerhalder as Christian, though Alexander Skarsgard is my number one choice right now. And I would put Ashley Greene or Anna Kendrick in for Anastasia.
I think Alexander Skarsgard is the absolute best choice. He does some very interesting things on True Blood and would easliy fit into the role of Christian. Not to mention the body..

I do not think that Kristen Stewart, Amanda Seyfried or Alexis Bledel should be cast. To me, they are too established and I would always think of them as who they are famous for being. I love all of them, but Alexis is always going to be a Gilmore girl to me and I would have a hard time seeing her as Anastasia. I feel Shailene Woodley would be great in the role, (or someone more unknown) as most do not associate her with a really famous role. Ian Somerhalder I ABSOLUTELY agree with, tho!

I love the idea of Alexis Bledel. She is the plain Jane beauty that is Anatasia Steele. We’ve all seen her acting on Gilmore Girls and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which is a hell of a lot better than the other female actresses in this poll. She has Ana’s characteristics to a “T”. She has my vote! I also love the idea of her BFF Kate being played by Blake Lively, which almost every female I’ve talked with has said they see her in that role. I completely agree, Alexis Bledel couldn’t be more perfect for the role of Anastasia! She is subtly beautiful, has big blue eyes, and is petite. Picking any of those other actresses on the poll up there would completely ruin the film. They just aren’t a good fit. The books were so extremely well written that they need to get the cast exactly right if they want to make a successful adaptation!

Alexis Bledel is the perfect fit for the character of Ana. If you watch her role in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants you will know that I’m spot on. Her sheer innocence to sexuality in all forms is unbelievably convincing and her character as Rory in Gilmore Girls proves completely that she is able to play up to the well educated, rehearsed college graduate… Not to mention, Alexis Bledel has already portrayed a college graduate in Post-Grad. If anyone other than Alexis Bledel gets castes for this part, I’m not sure I’ll feel the same about it because her face is who I put to the character. As for Christian, I started with Christian Bale’s character as Batman in Dark Knight, but because he is a tad older, I’m picturing Matt Bomer. Kate of course has to be Blake Lively. Think about it.

We need to be realistic as to whom would choose for this role because if we bet on actors/actresses WE really want to play in the movie, then there will be a lot of let downs before the movie even goes into production. All she’d need to do is die her hair brown. They need to bring in someone fairly fresh to play Ana because it’s such a racy role and the expectations are going to be HUGE.

I have put a lot of thought into the perfect cast for this book…right down to the last character. I think people are forgetting that whomever plays these roles has to be able to handle the part, on all emotional levels…looks and favorite popular actors are not enough. I also think less popular actors/actresses will do the movie justice.
To answer the above question…I think Anastasia could be played by… Sarah Butler… she could definitely play this part hands down and as her leading man Christian…. as much as I like Ian Somerhalder and think he could definitely handle the role. I would have to say Matt Bomer is my first choice…he has that certain something that just says “YES”!!!

I think Rooney Mara would be an excellent Ana Steele. If you check out earlier photos of her before Lisbeth Salander, she had long brown hair and a total innocence in her face.
Ian Somerhalder doesn’t do it for me…. I think they should find an unknown – someone who looks a little like Christian Bale. If Christian Bale wasn’t older, I think he would have been it. He’s gorgeous, has that brooding demeanor like Christian Grey and yet can be tender.

Ann Hatheway all the way. Anastasia is a good looking girl but by no means is she a vixen. he sees her as a hot smoking girl, but she describes herself as average. ann hatheway could pull this off to a tee. shes sweet enough and sexy enough to give us the anastasia we read about!

We have to remember that all these gorgeous dark-haired men we’re suggesting will need to have their hair colored to be accurate with the book, so we’ll have to keep that in mind.

.. All I request as a HUGE fan of “Fifty” is that the Studios, Producers and the Casting department think very hard on their choice actors and how to make the film.
.. The actors MUST look 90% close to the characters that they will play, none of this “30 year old playing a 20 year old” kind of thing (and don’t CGI their eyes, hair or bodies) because the actors you hired lack the qualities that are listed in the books.
.. This Movie (must be rated R or even NC17), the studios don’t need to worry about NOT drawing the people (because we are already there, and we are waiting for someone to take on this challenge), and technically – no one under 18 should be reading these books anyway, so NC17 sounds BEST.
