Hot Trailer: ‘Precious’ Director’s Risky New Film ‘The Paperboy’

Remember Annie Leibovitz’s penchant for photographing famous actors as Disney characters? Her latest batch has cast Russell Brand as Captain Hook, and Jack Black, Will Ferrell, and Jason Segel as a trio of ghosts from the Haunted Mansion ride. I’m trying to figure out whether Brand has anything in common with the J.M. Barrie villain beyond his mop of curly locks; let’s all take a moment to look back at Dustin Hoffman in the role and consider whether this would be secret-genius casting, or simply the worst thing ever.

Yeah, I know that this new “Total Recall” is supposed to skew closer toward Philip K. Dick‘s actual short story, but nothing beats the energy and humor (intentional and otherwise) of the 1990 Verhoeven blockbuster. That’s the spirit in which I offer this video tribute to classic Schwarzenegger films of yesteryear, from “Conan” to “The Running Man” and beyond, complete with kill-counts (where applicable).

Actors have zero control over which roles they’ll become best known for, and sometimes this can be a real bummer. Here are nine of them who openly resent their big breaks. Don’t you feel really good knowing that Kate Winslet can’t stand watching “Titanic”? Like, really, really good? Even on your worst day, you won’t feel humiliated by something you did over and over in front of hundreds of millions of people.

While we’re on the subject, we finally have a trailer for “The Paperboy,” quickly becoming known as “That movie where Nicole Kidman pees on Zac Efron.” Grow up, people; it’s (probably) not even real pee!
