Election season is hot for book sales … well, certain books anyhow. This election heat map shows that “red” political titles are being devoured at a rate slightly faster than “blue” ones. Meanwhile, Barack Obama’s The Audacity of Hope is drastically outselling Mitt Romney’s No Apology: The Case for American Greatness.
There are certain titles that are just bound to pop up on a list of movies that were ahead of their time. This list not only includes obvious heavy hitters like “Jaws” and “2001: A Space Odyssey,” it also pays homage to game-changing genre tweakers like “Office Space” and “Starship Troopers.”
Jim Carrey is being sought for a role in the “Kick-Ass” sequel, and why not? He’s no stranger to superhero films (remember, he played The Riddler in “Batman Forever”). This film is mainly a vehicle for its young stars — will they be upstaged by the likes of Carrey and John Leguizamo?
What do you do with your ’80s childhood nostalgia now that you’re a grownup with lots of disposable income? Get a tattoo sleeve inspired by “The Neverending Story,” of course. Bonus points for including Morla, the wise old turtle prophet, even though I personally wouldn’t want to wake up to that face every morning.
