Lauren Kate’s novel, the thrilling young adult love story Fallen, is set for the big screen. Scott Hicks, who most recently directed “The Lucky One” and received an Oscar nomination for 1996′s “Shine,” is set to direct the film although no time table has been established. Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard will write the script for the adaptation.
Fallen is a young adult fantasy novel about Luce, a young girl sent to reform school after being accused of murdering her boyfriend. It’s at this school where she falls into a love triangle with two fallen angels, Daniel and Cam.
Fallen is the first book in the series followed by Torment, Passion, and Rapture. It’s not clear yet if the plan is to produce the entire series or if those who have already signed on have only agreed to do the first one. With the success of other series like “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games,” it’s no mystery as to why studios are looking for the next best series.
