Pierce Brosnan is set to star in the miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s 1998 bestseller, Bag of Bones. The James Bond actor will return to television for the four-hour, two-night Sony Pictures Television event on A&E. Kelly Rowland and Annabeth Gish (as Jo) will also join the cast of this supernatural thriller.
Stephen King’s story introduces us to Mike Noonan (Brosnan), a writer who is recovering from his wife’s aneurysm-caused death that not only took her life, but that of their unborn child. The sudden twist in his life has shut down his creativity, and his writing comes to a halt. Determined to hide the fact that he is unable to produce more work, he leans on his previously written but unpublished works. Four years later, with no more work to give, Noonan begins having nightmares about his summer home from years past. Convinced there is some meaning in the dreams, Noonan faces his fears and goes back — where he finds a chance at love, a plot to remove him from existence, and mysteries unearthed with the help of his deceased wife.
Filming will begin in the next few weeks in Nova Scotia. The series will be written by Matt Venne, whose previous work includes “Fear Itself” (2008) and “Masters of Horror” (2006). It will be directed by Mick Garris, who also directed the 1994 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand.” Mark Sennett will executive produce along with Garris, Stewart Mackinnon, and Craig Sheftell.
The thrill will hit TV screens later this year.
