Patlabor 2: The Movie (機動警察パトレイバー 2 the Movie, Kidō Keisatsu Patoreibā 2 the Movie) is a 1993 Japanese animated science fiction political thriller film directed by Mamoru Oshii and written by Kazunori Itō, who also respectively directed and wrote Patlabor: The Movie. It was produced by Production I.G, Bandai Visual and Tohokushinsha. Patlabor 2 strays from past iterations of the Patlabor series by heavily focusing on political themes. It touches on domestic and international issues that the Japanese government faced during the 20th century.
