The second installment in the Twilight series, the novel continues the story of Bella Swan and her relationship with vampire Edward Cullen as she enters her senior year of high school. Everything changes for Bella when Edward’s brother Jasper almost attacks her on her eighteenth birthday, leading to Edward and his family moving away to protect Bella. Bella sinks into a depression in the months following Edward’s departure, but she begins to heal as she grows closer to her friend Jacob Black.
